World Brand - Serbian rakija
Sljivovica is the first Serbian protected brand of this geographical origin. It is made according to the recipe for the Zlatibor village of the same name, Šljivovica, in which a great event of competition is traditionally held every year. Sljivovica, dunjevac, honey, pear and other types of local rakia are authentic Serbian products known and recognized all over the world.
That rakia is a world brand and a quote by Samuel Johnson comes to mind: “Claret is the liquor for boys, the port for men; but he who aspires to be a hero must drink brandy.”
Rarely do get-togethers and reunions, celebrations and festivities go without it in Serbia, do not go without good rakia made of plums. In Serbia one laughs with rakia and is blissfully happy, either wailing and grieving or making a toast. It is used for its therapeutic and health properties as a remedy to boost immunity and to treat many pains and aches.
This very alcoholic drink of specific taste and smell is carried in special dishes and served in special glasses. Čutura for rakija and čokanjčići are the most original Serbian products in which this Serbian national drink is served.
Čutura for rakia, the so-called buklia, is part and parcel of our old folk customs and our national identity, used as an invite for merriment and joy: dotted with flowers, the hosts would carry them around the house and from one house to another so that they invite neighbors to have a treat and enjoy. They tend to store the best rakia for special occasions though.
The rakia flask smaller than buklija, is today a mandatory companion on shorter or longer trips alike, excursions and gatherings, designed so that you down the whole little bottle and to gulp it down your throat
If you are fond of a good company of merry men and women and good Serbian plum rakia, you might like to treat yourself or your dear friends to some of these gifts before the upcoming holidays and social gatherings. There are authentic Serbian products - Serbian chokanjce. For your complete pleasure, we recommend hand-dyed scarves, with a motif of plum or quince. Also look for rakia crates with national motifs for your friends worldwide, and there are also those football players and fans.
A rakia flask with landmarks of Belgrade or Novi Sad may well be an ideal gift for your friends out of Serbia that you intend to visit for holidays. Of course, with a good quality Serbian plum rakia, you are going to pour into it. Surely you will also enjoy the bottles with hilarious notes and messages – ‘keep calm and drink rakia’. to name but one.
Serbs are people who love celebrations, festivals and holidays. In Serbia, it is easy to find a reason to throw a party, especially with a good old toast raising. Our hospitality runs in the family, and a warm welcome and cheerful disposition are the main characteristics of almost every good Serbian host. That is why foreigners in Serbia tend to be wined and dined and they tend to have fond memories of their stay here. Good Serbian plum rakia is known to be one reason for that
In that sense, let us toast together, live long and prosper!
