VESNA

Vesna's divine spouse is Stribog. According to the legend, he would bring Vesna to the earth every spring, carrying her by his winds. Slavs had several festivals celebrating the goddess of spring: Mladenci (or Maslenica) – a festival for newly wedded couples, married during the previous year. The celebration was a wish for a healthy offspring and a traditional meal for this festival were honey cakes.

Also, Slavs would color the eggs in spring, usually red, to symbolize the Sun, fire and warmth that Vesna brought. Together with the gift of wine and bread, colored eggs would be given to the householder. One red egg would be placed next to the house idol, as an amulet of good luck and health to the family, and it would be kept there until the next year.
The Slavs would identify Vesna with swallow, another herald of spring. It was considered to be a good sign if a swallow would make a nest under the roof of the house.

Vesna is a common female name all across the Slavic world.
