SAINT ANDREW THE FIRST CALLED

Saint Andrew the First-Called was one of the twelve apostles and the first to be called by Jesus Christ. He was born in Bethsaida, on the coast of the Sea of Galilee, as the brother of Saint Peter. He is considered the patron saint of Russia, Scotland and Greece.

Andrew is known for preaching Christianity in various regions, including Rome, where he suffered martyrdom. According to tradition, he was crucified on a cross in the shape of the letter "X", which became known as St. Andrew's Cross.
