SAINT SAVA SANCTIFIED
Saint Sava the Sanctified (439–532) was a Christian saint and one of the most important monks in the history of Christianity. He was born in Cappadocia and already at the age of 18 he went to Palestine where he became a monk. He founded several monasteries, the most famous of which is the Great Lavra in the desert between Jerusalem and the Dead Sea.
He is known for his strict ascetic life, and he got his name "Sanctified" because of his extraordinary spiritual purity and sanctity. He was a spiritual leader and creator of the monastic type that many monasteries followed. His relics are in Jerusalem, and the day of his celebration is December 5.
