DESPOT STEFAN LAZAREVIĆ
Despot Stefan Lazarević (1377–1427) was a Serbian ruler and the son of Emperor Lazar Hrebeljanović. He is known for his military leadership, diplomacy and cultural contribution. After the battle in Kosovo, he assumed leadership of the Serbian lands and established the despotate as a political and cultural unit.
Stefan was a patron of art and science, which contributed to the development of culture and enlightenment in Serbia. He was also an important ally in the fight against the Ottoman Empire, trying to unite Serbian territories.
His reign was marked by economic progress and the strengthening of the army, and during his despotic rule, Belgrade became an important cultural center. Stefan Lazarevic is celebrated as a wise ruler and a symbol of resistance against foreign powers, and his holiday is celebrated on November 12.
